When will I receive my deck?

All physical products are currently scheduled to ship in October 2022 (+/- 6 weeks). Production is on schedule, but the global freight situation can be unpredictable, so we like to anticipate the possibility of timelines shifting. See our project updates for the latest production information.

PDFs are ready now. We make them available to new preorder customers within 1-5 days when orders are locked and charged.

When will my PDFs arrive?

For Kickstarter backers, all PDF rewards have already been distributed.

For preorder customers, all PDF rewards will be delivered within 1-5 days (as soon the preorder is locked and payment is taken, which we do at least once a week.)

What kind of shipping do you offer?

We offer tracked, customs-friendly shipping to the US, Canada, the UK, the EU, Australia, and New Zealand.*

For all other regions, duty may be upon arrival and parcel tracking may not be available.

*For New Zealand, duty may be due on preorders that come to more than 400 NZD (including shipping).

Can I still upgrade my pledge or preorder?

Kickstarter backers and BackerKit preorder customers can get in touch via Kicksarter DM or the BackerKit help form to request additions or upgrades to their pledge or preorder.

Can I still update my address?

Yes, both Kickstarter backers and BackerKit preorder customers will be able to update addresses until just before we ship in 2022. For instructions, see https://deckofworlds.com/updateaddress

NOTE: If you are moving countries, or if you are changing which US state your rewards/preorder is being shipped to, please contact us for support and provide your new shipping country or state.

Can I pay with PayPal?

How will VAT and EU/UK distribution work?

We have fulfillment partners in the UK who will ship rewards to preorder backers in the UK and EU using the DDP (delivery duty paid) method.

If you live in the UK or EU, all VAT will be charged when you place your pledge or preorder. Your parcel will be sent with all customs paperwork prepaid and pre-filled, so you will not owe any further VAT. In the incredibly unlikely event that your parcel is charged VAT, please contact us with the receipt and will make immediate plans to pay or reimburse those charges for you.

How big are the cards?

Both The Story Engine Deck and The Story Engine: Deck of Worlds are 3” x 3” square.

How many cards are there?

The Deck of Worlds (up to 240 cards) + 9 expansions (60 cards ea.) + 5-8 early bird promo cards = 785-788 cards

The original Story Engine Deck (180 cards) + 3 expansions (60 cards ea.) + 6 boosters (18 cards ea.) = 468 cards.

The 3 new Story Engine expansions (60 cards ea.) + 6 new boosters (18-20 cards ea.) = up to 300 cards.

Maximum total count for combined Story Engine = 768 cards.

When will shipping and sales tax be charged for Kickstarter backers?

All Kickstarter backers receiving physical rewards will have their shipping charges provided to them when they complete their BackerKit survey. Sales tax may also be due for backers in Canada, the UK, and the EU.

We will charge credit cards for all outstanding charges in BackerKit starting in January 2022. See the Kickstarter project updates for more information.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
